Everything you need to know about Animal Hospital on Roblox, answered. From basic questions for new players to advanced mechanics for veterans.

General Questions

What is Animal Hospital?

Animal Hospital (also known as Animal Hospital: Anomaly) is a co-op survival horror game on Roblox where you work the night shift at a veterinary clinic. Your job is to screen animal patients for hidden anomalies — monsters disguised as ordinary animals — while maintaining your Sanity and surviving the shift.

Is Animal Hospital free to play?

Yes, 100% free. There are no paywalls or premium entry requirements. Anyone with a Roblox account can play immediately. Optional purchases (Robux classes and items) enhance gameplay but are not required to enjoy the full experience.

How many players can play together?

Up to 30 players per server. The game supports both solo play and full co-op teams. Smaller groups of 3–6 players tend to perform best due to easier coordination.

Is Animal Hospital on mobile?

Yes. Animal Hospital is available on mobile devices through the Roblox app. However, the game is best experienced on PC due to the precise camera movements and quick reaction times needed for anomaly detection. Mobile players can still participate fully in all game modes.

What age rating does Animal Hospital have?

Animal Hospital contains horror elements including jumpscares, supernatural themes, and monster encounters. It is appropriate for most Roblox players but may be frightening for younger children.

Gameplay Questions

What are anomalies?

Anomalies are monsters disguised as normal animal patients. They blend in with regular patients and can only be identified through three detection methods:

  1. Appearance — Look at the patient directly at reception (e.g., Three Eyes, Hollow Face, Twitching)
  2. Photo — Check the polaroid that develops on your desk (e.g., Static Photo, Cursed Photo, Different Eyes)
  3. CCTV — Monitor surveillance cameras (e.g., Void Bodies, Skinwalker, Staring At Camera)

If you let an anomaly through, it drains your team's Sanity and can trigger dangerous events.

How does Sanity work?

Sanity is your health bar. If it reaches 0, you're eliminated from the shift.

What Drains SanityAmount
Cursed Photo (picking it up)-10
Camera Anomaly / Demon Cat (jumpscare)-20
The Stalker (eye contact)-10 per stare
Unchecked anomaliesVaries
Don't Look Up (looking at ceiling)Continuous drain
General exposure (over time)Slow drain
What Restores SanityAmount
Coffee (per sip)+5 (3 sips = 15 total)
Chocolate (per bite)+20 (3 bites = 60 total)
Doctor / Surgeon healingVaries by level
Secretary check-inVaries by level
Psychologist class2× all Sanity effects

What happens at 0 Sanity?

When your Sanity reaches 0, you are eliminated from the current shift. You can no longer participate until the next shift begins. This is effectively "death" — losing one team member makes anomaly screening harder for everyone else.

How do you deal with the Skinwalker?

The Skinwalker is one of the most dangerous monsters in the game. Here's how to handle it:

MethodHow It Works
GunShoot it — 20 shots available, most reliable method
TaserStun it with the X-Taser (5 uses, free at Reception Office)
Hold EForcefully dislodge the Skinwalker from its victim
Spam EPunch the Skinwalker if it attacks you directly
Beat the timerComplete the encounter before the timer runs out — otherwise it eats you or the patient

The Secret Agent class is the best counter to Skinwalkers due to the built-in Gun.

What is the Stalker?

The Stalker is a monster that stares at you from around the hospital. If you make eye contact, you lose 10 Sanity per stare. The best strategy is to simply look away — it's not lethal, but the Sanity drain adds up over a shift.

Classes & Progression

How do you unlock classes?

Classes are purchased in the lobby Class Shop using:

  • Animal Coins (earned in-game by completing shifts)
  • Robux (premium Roblox currency, real money)

Each class has 3 upgrade levels with progressively stronger effects.

Intern (Free) → Doctor (900 AC) → Surgeon (2,500 AC) → [Optional] Secret Agent (Robux)

This path takes you from a basic free class to the most powerful earnable class, then optionally adds the best paid combat class.

Economy & Currency

How do you get Animal Coins?

Animal Coins are earned by completing shifts. The amount varies based on:

  • Class used — Higher-tier classes tend to earn more
  • Shift length — Longer shifts = more coins
  • Efficiency — More patients treated = higher rewards
  • Anomalies caught — Successfully identifying anomalies contributes to your score

Most players earn 50–200 Animal Coins per shift depending on class and performance.

See our Animal Coins Guide for detailed earning strategies.

Are there codes in Animal Hospital?

No. As of June 2026, Animal Hospital does not have a code redemption system. There are no active promo codes, and no code input feature exists in the game.

To stay informed about future codes:

  • Join the Animal Hospital Discord server
  • Follow the Animal Anomaly Roblox group
  • Check the game description on the Roblox page

We update our Codes page the moment codes are released.

Advanced Questions

Can you play solo?

Yes. Animal Hospital is fully playable solo. The best solo class is Surgeon for self-sustaining Sanity recovery. The main challenges of solo play are:

  • You handle all screening alone (no parallel CCTV watching)
  • Monster encounters (Skinwalker, Hiders) are more dangerous without team support
  • Patient throughput is slower with only one player

What's the difference between Animal Coins and dollars (in-game cash)?

CurrencyEarned ByUsed For
Animal Coins (AC)Completing shiftsBuying permanent classes
In-Game Dollars ($)Treating patients, shift rewardsBuying upgrades and consumable items

Animal Coins are the premium progression currency — save them for classes. Dollars are shift-to-shift currency — spend freely on upgrades and items.

How do I improve at anomaly detection?

  1. Follow the 3-step protocol every time — Appearance → Photo → CCTV
  2. Spend 4–5 seconds on the appearance check — don't rush the twitching test
  3. Always inspect photos on the desk before picking up — prevents Cursed Photo damage
  4. Check the waiting room CCTV for every patient — it's the most important camera
  5. Memorize the anomaly types — use our Anomaly Cheat Sheet

Animal Hospital is actively updated. For the latest news:

Does Animal Hospital have anti-cheat?

Yes. Animal Hospital uses Roblox's built-in anti-cheat system. Exploiting or using third-party tools can result in a ban from both the game and Roblox platform. The game does not have any custom anti-cheat beyond what Roblox provides.

How do you beat Animal Hospital?

To "beat" the game and reach the ending, you need to survive all shifts in the campaign. Key tips:

  1. Play as Surgeon — Self-sustaining Sanity recovery makes survival much easier
  2. Follow the 3-step screening protocol — Never skip CCTV checks
  3. Keep Sanity above 50% at all times — Don't let it dip into danger zone
  4. Communicate with your team — Assign roles (screener, healer, monster response)
  5. Stock up on Chocolate — Save it for late-shift emergencies

See our Ending Guide for the full walkthrough.

Do patients leave if you wait too long?

Yes. Patients in the waiting room have a patience timer. If you take too long to screen them, they will leave. You won't lose Sanity, but you lose the potential rewards (coins and in-game dollars). Balance speed with accuracy — don't rush, but don't dawdle either.

Can you revive a patient?

Yes. If a patient's condition worsens during treatment, stand next to them and hold E to begin the revive interaction. Complete the progress bar before time runs out. See our Medicine Guide for details.

What is Utility in Animal Hospital?

Utility is a class stat that measures versatility — how many different tasks a class can perform well. High-Utility classes (like Head Nurse and Surgeon) can flex between screening, healing, and support. See our Utility Stat Guide for details.
